EnviroNaut

EnviroNaut 2.0 is an Erasmus+ project co-funded by the European Union

A training programme for Environauts: Together with five European partners, we have developed a sustainability course for employees in the water sports sector, enabling environmental officers in nautical tourism to better prepare for the many issues and challenges facing the industry and to position themselves competently and sustainably.

The EnviroNaut 2.0 project builds on the success of the first project, which developed the first modular online training course for ‘Environmental Officers in the Nautical Tourism Industry’ (EnviroNaut).

The original EnviroNaut course was developed between 2022 and 2024 with the aim of bringing together the expertise of representatives from business, academia and civil society and integrating it into an engaging training programme. This curriculum is now offered as a modular online course and serves as a continuous professional development programme, which was previously lacking in this sector. The course has received very positive feedback from professionals, companies and industry associations.

Together with the project partners of EnviroNaut 2.0, we are now further improving the course and developing a new Train-the-Trainer programme to expand its use in vocational education and training. In addition, a recognised training and certification structure for the nautical tourism sector will be established.

The target groups are professionals and trainers across all sectors of the nautical tourism industry: marinas, sea schools and water sports clubs, skippers, and maintenance companies. The German Ocean Foundation is implementing the EnviroNaut 2.0 project in collaboration with five European partners: the German Maritime Industry Association (Verband Maritime Wirtschaft Deutschland e.V.), Sea Teach S.L., the Foundation for Environmental Education Latvia, Gölcük Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and the European Boating Industry. Thanks to this international consortium and the partners in the first phase of the project, the course and the train-the-trainer programme can be offered in German, English, Spanish, Greek, Turkish and Latvian.
