School expeditions

  • Watt'n MEER

The future of Germany's coastal Federal States depends far more on the sea than is currently perceived. With our school expeditions we aim to bring children out onto the water on board the research vessel ALDEBARAN. Research methods such as underwater drones, special nets for microplastic as well as high-resolution microscopes, binoculars and endoscopes provide a fascinating insight into the interplay of coastal ecosystems. The focus is on the vital biological diversity on our own doorstep and its importance for humans.

  • Lake Constance Safari

Bridging the gap between inland waters and the ocean, the ALDEBARAN welcomes young students on board to conduct research into the effects of climate change on Lake Constance.

The results are interpreted and broadcast by the school students, who pass them on to their classmates with their own design and language, both digitally and in the form of workshops.
